3.45 Limerick – OSCARS BROTHER (1pt win – 5/4 bet365)
OSCARS BROTHER, runner-up in all three starts in points, continued that sequence when finding only 1-2 favourite Largy Hill too good in a 3m maiden hurdle at Cork in early January. Backed late from 50-1 into 25-1, Damian Murphy’s six-year-old travelled strongly in rear and gradually crept into contention on the final circuit. The jolly proved almost three lengths too good, but it was a fine rules debut and the winner franked the form with victory in Grade 3 company at Thurles next time. He’s likely to prove hard to beat.
4.20 Limerick – YOUNG DEV (1pt win – 4/1 William Hill)
Mudlark YOUNG DEV unseated his rider at Leopardstown when we were on last time and is worth another chance with the deep ground on his favour. The tongue-tie, worn for the first time on his latest outing, is left off and his record on officially heavy going reads 0U3116223131161 (6-15) for a profit of £31.60 to a £1 level stake at SP. The ten-year-old likes this track and will be suited by the switch to veterans’ company.
