Top tipster Andrew Mount is back after a break and turns his attentions to Sunday’s card at Doncaster.

ASJAD – 1.00 Doncaster – 1pt win (10-1 Hills, 9-1 generally)
ASJAD could only finish an 19th of 26 when an 18-1 shot for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot but he was poorly drawn in stall 9. He did fifth best of those drawn low and the likes of Fresh – ninth from stall 7 – and Silver Samurai, 11th from stall 5, have boosted the form for the low-drawn runners. He was unsuited by making the running over 7f at Ascot next time and it’s interesting to note that his record on officially good to soft or softer going stands at 111 (3-3). One of those wins came at this venue for his old yard when he had Adaay To Remember back in second place and he looks over-priced at around the 10-1 mark.
WHENTHEDEALINSDONE – 2.10 Doncaster – 2pts e/w (9-2 generally, Sky Bet paying seven places)
The previous year’s renewal is often a good guide to the Portland Stakes and WHENTHEDEALINSDONE was unlucky not to win this race 12 months ago. Roger Teal’s gelding raced close to the pace into the strong headwind and disputed the lead a furlong out before being swept aside by four horses who came from midfield or further back. I was confident that he was a Group winner in waiting but the yard’s slow start to the current campaign did him no favours and he’s only just getting going, finishing second of four behind all-the-way winner Night On Earth last month before bolting up at Ascot. He’s been raised 9lb for his latest effort but is still only 1lb above last year’s mark and it’s hard to see him out of the first four or five here.
