2.42 NAAS – MEET AND GREET (1pt win – 8/1 Bet365, 15/2 generally)
I’m hopeful of getting the front two in the betting beaten in the Grade 3 Limestone Lad Hurdle today. Echoes In Rain, the 6-5 favourite at the time of writing, fell at Fairyhouse eight weeks ago when we last saw her and has now lost on her last six starts over jumps. Best late off a strong pace, she’s far from certain to have the race run to suit. Bob Olinger, the 2/1 second favourite, has tasted defeat at odds of 6-5f, 13-8f and 7-4f since landing the Turners Novices’ Chase at last season’s Cheltenham festival and simply doesn’t look one to trust at present. With 6-1 shot Darasso reverting from fences, this race might be best left to Oliver McKiernan’s MEET AND GREET, despite the big drop back in trip after his 50-1 third to Home By The Lee in a three-mile Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas. He’s now had three runs in Graded company, placing on all three occasions, including a course and distance runner-up effort on soft ground last February.
