JETOILE – 1pt win (10/3 Bet 365, 11/4 Generally)
With Stepney Causeway, forecast to start as the 5-4 favourite, far from convincing in the jumping department, the one to side with is JETOILE. Ryan Potter’s seven-year-old bombed out in the Betfair Hurdle last year, finishing a 40-length last of 14 despite starting at just 8-1, but probably did too much too soon. He didn’t seem to stay 2m6f when second of four at Newcastle next time and looks interesting now back at 2m for his chase debut. He has form when fresh – finishing a close-up 80-1 third at Cheltenham on his Rules debut last October where he might have won but for running green. He really impressed over 2m4f at Leicester a couple of runs later, winning despite racing in the ‘swamp’ on the inside, and he looks a bright prospect.

CURRENT OPTION – 1pt win (5/1 Generally)
CURRENT OPTION is better than ever at the age of six, matching his career-best RPR of 109 when scoring at Galway on his penultimate start and again when third of 18 in a Premier Handicap at Leopardstown last time. He usually struggles in the early months of the season but his 7f record from July until the end of the year, below Group 1 level, reads 2211151419413 (6-13) for a profit of £24.50. He won this race two years ago and missed it last year in favour of a tilt at the Group 1 Prix de la Foret in which he finished a respectable 63-1 seventh of 13.

MO CELITA – 0.5pt e/w (20/1 Betfair, 18/1 Generally)
MO CELITA ran a stormer in this race last season to finish a 23-1 fourth of 14 from a poor draw in stall 9. She was only a short head behind Glass Slippers (stall 8) who won at the Breeders’ Cup next time. She went on to run third at Chantilly (from another poor draw) and, though winless this year, she hasn’t encountered her preferred conditions of 5f with plenty of cut in the ground. Five of her seven best RPRs (Racing Post Ratings) have come in September/October, the other two in August, and she’s shown more the last twice, finishing second to Manaccan at Doncaster before a solid fourth of 18 at Ayr. She’s well drawn in stall 3 today and should get a good tow into the race from stablemate Tees Spirit (stall 6).
