DEEP SNOW challenged on the slowest part of the track when defying a long absence at Ripon last time in what looked an above-average maiden for the track and can follow up in this fillies’ handicap.
It was a big advantage to race on the inside rail on the round course at that June 13 Ripon meeting, making life difficult for those drawn wide. Saeed Bin Suroor’s Deep Snow saw too much daylight from stall 8 of 10 and raced keenly as a result.
Three out it looked as though Hessa, a 14-1 shot who grabbed the inside rail, was going to prevail but Deep Snow responded to pressure despite being switched more towards the centre of the track by Hector Crouch. She kept on strongly to score by a length and could be well ahead of her opening mark of 83.
