William Knight’s gelded newcomer AYLESFORD ran a race full of promise in a 7f novice contest at Kempton in November, blowing the start and running green before keeping on late into a 25-1 fourth of 11.
He again displayed obvious signs of inexperience on his recent comeback in a 6f Yarmouth maiden but still managed to score narrowly from the William Haggas-trained 5-2 favourite Pagan. Slowly away, he raced keenly before quickening to lead half a furlong out and held on gamely from the jolly. He’ll improve for that run and looks a very exciting prospect.
