Top tipster Andrew Mount has four bets at Ayr, Wolverhampton, Kempton and Hereford on Saturday
BETTER TIMES AHEAD – Naas 3.30
BETTER TIME AHEAD was only ninth of the 16 runners when 11-2 for a 2m4f contest at Fairyhouse on his handicap debut last month but he ran much better than his 21-length defeat suggests. The inside of the hurdles course was badly cut up that day and he raced in the ‘swamp’ throughout. Cutting back to today’s extended 1m7f trip could suit and he’s worth a small interest.
VOLCANO & THE NEWEST ONE – WARWICK 3.55
I’ve been waiting for Volcano to return to his beloved Warwick for some time and today is finally the day. The Sheila Lewis-trained eight-year-old has form figures at this venue of 111 (3-3), including victory in this race last year off a mark of 125. He’s 0-9 since that win but there was plenty to like about his Ludlow 22-1 fourth in January and his 33-1 third of 17 at Chepstow the following month. He pulled up at Exeter last time but that track wouldn’t have suited and he can bounce back today off a mark of just 110.
I’ve saved on THE NEWEST ONE, who hated the right-handed track when only fourth at Warwick last time. His record in that direction now reads 5336F4 (0-6), compared to left-handed form figures of 43625121 (2-8). He’s finished second in both previous visits to Warwick and will be hard to kick out of the frame.
