Top Tipster Andrew Mount heads to the Curragh and Goodwood for three bets on Sunday
TERSA MENDOZA – 1.55 Curragh
TERESA MENDZA has only scored once from ten starts but has been knocking on the door in some good races since her eyecatching third against the draw bias in Listed contest at Cork in the spring. Last month’s fourth of 16 to Dandalla at Ayr was a case in point – she did best of those drawn in double figures and the badly-berthed 12th, Gellhorn, was a close second to Gale Force Maya at Newmarket on her next outing to give the form a minor boost. Her record in Irish sprints reads 1233234 (1-7) and the first-time cheekpieces could eke out further improvement.
LOVELY BREEZE & SECRET HANDSHEIKH – 2.55 Goodwood
LOVELY BREEZE hasn’t had much luck in two starts on good/faster ground since her soft-ground course and distance win at Glorious Goodwood – she was drawn out of it when a 14-1 sixth of 12 at Pontefract next time (form franked by several of the other high-drawn runners) – and fared best of those ridden patiently when fourth to Gale Force Maya at Newmarket. Her record in blinkers now reads 12164 (2-5) and the Huge Palmer horses are running better now after a quiet spell.
I want to save on SECRET HANDSHEIKH, who could be the only pace in the race and is drawn on the stands’ rail, often the place to be in sprints here this season, especially on soft ground. He caught the eye at Epsom on his penultimate start, doing well to finish fourth after getting into a three-way battle for the early lead and won claimers either side of that effort. He clocked a good time at York on his final start for Archie Watson and new handler John Gallagher has won this race before.
