Though the flat season is now just around the corner, Thursday’s action continues to centre on the jumps and all-weather, where our man Andrew Mount has two fancies at Chepstow and Southwell.

4.25 Chepstow – TWILIGHT GLORY (1pt win – 7/4 bet365)
TWILIGHT GLORY finished fifth of 18 in a key race at Warwick on November 7th after which I made him and Felton Bellevue, the fourth in that race, bets for the same 2m7.5f handicap chase at Lingfield. Both were hammered in the betting, going off at 9-2 and 5-1 from early offers of 16-1+, but Twilight Glory was pulled up, after which his jockey reported that he was ‘never travelling’ (Felton Bellevue finished second). Tim Vaughan’s eight-year-old perhaps found the good to soft going too fast that day and he’s since gone two from two on heavy ground at Chepstow. Like most progeny of Fame And Glory he seems to be improving with age and he could have more to offer.
6.00 Southwell – RUNAROUND SIOUX (1pt win – 6/1 William Hill)
RUNAROUND SIOUX (5-1 from 10-1) did this column a favour when scoring on her handicap debut over 6f at Chelmsford last month, relishing the strong pace and staying on strongly to score by a length and a quarter. The step up to 7f looks likely to suit and she should again get the required strong pace. The small field (nine run) will also suit, as progeny of Sioux Nation are 82 from 441 (18.6%) in fields of ten or fewer runners for a profit of £80.31 to a £1 level stake at SP. I’ve saved on COMMANDER OF LIFE, a likely improver on his first start since a gelding operation.

Let’s examine the yard’s recent form to give us some background… Since the beginning of February (until the close of play…
