It was a big advantage to challenge wide on the hurdles course at the Wetherby meeting in late October and, though only eighth, 40-1 shot EVISCERATING caught the eye on his first start following a wind operation. He made ground in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail and, after briefly looking threatening, his effort petered out. That run, his first since July, was probably needed and he could surprise in this weaker contest.

The Pam Sly-trained MIXEDWAVE started at just 9-2 for his debut in a two-mile Market Rasen bumper on March 21 but could only finish a 22-length seventh of the nine runners under a patient ride in a first-time hood. He disputed the running this time but the ground on the hurdles/bumper course was clearly slower on the inside and he never left the deep stuff, weakening into a modest fourth behind three wide runners. His trainer has a good record with hoses returning from a break of at least 150 days, scoring with 30 of the 256 qualifiers (11.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £144.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. He’s up in trip on his hurdles debut and looks worth chancing at huge odds.

TRANS EXPRESS – 2.07 Leicester
TRANS EXPRESS thrives at this time of year and is also best on stiff right-handed tracks, winning only here at Leicester or at Exeter.
