There’s not a huge amount that I like on Thursday, but NELLIE FRENCH looks worth an each-way interest in this 5f handicap. Katie Scott’s mare could only finish ninth at Southwell last time but could never get competitive in a race dominated by those who were up with the pace throughout.
Her patient style will be more effective here and there’s plenty of early pace on offer. Throw in the forecast headwind and the race should be run to suit. Both her wins have come over this trip at Wolverhampton at around this time of year (January 29 and February 15) and though 0-6 at Newcastle, she’s only had one run here over her optimum trip – finishing a respectable 22-1 fifth of 14 after blowing the start and doing best of those to come from off the pace.
