Top tipster Andrew Mount has two bets at Chelmsford on Thursday. In January, Andrew’s bets returned a profit of £17.45 to a £1 stake at advised and +£10.85 at SP. Check out his selections below and a great sign-up offer at bet365 of Bet £10 – Get £50 In Free Bets! too.
FINERY – (CHELMSFORD 4.55 – 1pt win – 12/1)
The inside of the round course (races over 6f+) has not been the place to be in handicaps on Southwell’s new Tapeta surface, with those drawn in stalls 1, 2 or 3 responsible for just nine winners from 186 runners in fields of eight plus for a huge loss of £103.25 to a £1 level stake at SP.
Mick Appleby’s FINERY had a useful draw in stall 6 of 10 in division one of the 1m MansionBet Proud Partners Of The AWC Handicap on New Year’s Day but she soon led and was switched to ‘swamp’ the inside rail. She was headed just over a furlong out but stuck on well and only lost out on third place on the line, finishing two and a half lengths behind the winner. Three of her rivals also raced on the inside of the track for the majority of the race and they finished seventh, eighth and tenth, with the closest beaten by just over eight lengths. Since fitted with a hood her record over tonight’s 1m trip reads 114 (2-3) including a course and distance win under today’s jockey off a 2lb higher mark.
With luck, she won’t face much in way of competition for the early lead and can make all. SOYOUNIQUE did this column a favour at Lingfield last week but is up in trip and a much shorter price this time around. He’s the obvious danger but makes little appeal at around the 7-4 mark.

COUNT OTTO – (CHELMSFORD 6.00 – 1pt win – 9/1)
Durdle Door heads the market at around 5-4 but could have been flattered by taking the late/wide route at Lingfield last time and such tactics are rarely ideal at tonight’s venue where progeny of her sire don’t have a great record. I prefer the claims of COUNT OTTO who still looks attractively priced despite some overnight support.
He’s always been best in small fields and had we simply backed him in all-weather sprints in fields of nine or less we’d have won five of our 12 bets and made a profit of £20.75. In Class 3 or lower company his all-weather sprint record in small fields stands at 113654141 (4-9). He’s arguably better at Lingfield but did run third in one of his two course outings and, at the prices, is worth chancing.
