IMPHAL – (WINCANTON 1.45, 1pt win – 2/1)
IMPHAL was a massive eyecatcher at Lingfield on his penultimate start, finishing third after being left with a mountain to climb but his very inexperienced jockey. He then went for a hot novices’ handicap hurdle at Ascot just before Christmas, finishing second to plot horse Ardhill, subject of a huge late gamble both on and off-course.
That form has received a few minor boosts and the drying ground is not ideal for main market rival Jepeck.

SEA THE CLOUDS – (LUDLOW 4.00, 1pt win – 5/2)
SEA THE CLOUDS fared best of those who elected to race in the deep stuff on the inside rail when runner-up up in bumper at Fakenham on his debut in November. In the circumstances, Jamie Snowden’s gelding did well to finish seven lengths behind the winner and looks to have been found a good opportunity for his in-form yard.

LUNASA – (NEWCASTLE 6.00, 1pt win – 9/1)
There’s plenty of pace on offer in this 5f Class 4 handicap and the race could be teed up nicely for LUNASA, whose sole win came over course and distance in this grade. She’s 0-2 since that win in early November but failed to stay 6f next time and her latest 11-1 fifth of ten was better than it looked, as she got no cover in the middle of the track from stall 1 and the pace horses never came back to the field.
She did second best of those to come from midfield or further back and she looks ideally drawn in stall 6 of 6 tonight.
