Andrew Mount's Best Bets - Thursday, June 3

Top tipster Andrew Mount advised winners at 12-1 and 7-2 in his latest column and returns from a short break with three bets at Leopardstown and Hamilton on Thursday

LUKE SHORT – (3.40 Leopardstown, 2pts win – 7/1)

LUKE SHORT’s two previous course outings have culminated in a 1m win and a staying on 16-1 third over 7f (on his penultimate start). He was a big eyecatcher when tenth of 20 in the 7f Mallow Handicap at Cork last time, doing well to finish just over five lengths behind the winner after racing on the far side where the ground was slower. He’s two from two in big-field handicaps over 1m+ (the other win coming in a field of 20 at Navan) and this step up to 1m1f looks sure to suit.

MORPH SPEED – (4.15 Leoaprdstown, 2pts win – 2/1)

Low-drawn prominent racers enjoyed a huge edge in the 1m2f apprentice handicap won by Ivy Avenue at Cork on April 23, yet MORPH SPEED attracted strong support despite his stall 15 of 15 draw and patient running style. The 13-8 favourite did really well to place behind runners drawn 3 and 2 and he looks very interesting back up in trip on favourable ground.

MR WAGYU – (4.30 Hamilton, 1pt win – 11/4)

MR WAGYU tends to come good in high summer and has won eight of his 17 starts in June and July for a profit of £24.60 to a £1 level stake at SP. His full record at this time of year reads 21161131314631631 (8-17), improving to 111 (3-3) when returned to the track within a week of his previous start. He last raced 23 days ago but it’s interesting to note that he’s also entered at Pontefract on Monday. He looks the likeliest frontrunner on this pace-favouring track.

NUBOUGH let us down when we supported him at Wolverhampton last time but he still looks the chief threat. HIs presence tempers confidence slightly, hence the 1pt not 2pt stake.
