The Adrian Nicholls-trained six-year-old has form figures in June/July of 02174124132011 (5-14), improving to 21712111 (5-8) when starting in the front two in the betting. His yard has hit form at the right time and the easy ground is no problem.

DANDY MAESTRO went down by half a length in third when 11-10 favourite at Yarmouth last time but the bare result doesn’t tell the full story. Richard Spencer’s four-year-old was poorly drawn in stall 1 on a day the stands’ side ‘golden highway’ was fully operational.
He challenged widest of all under his 7lb claimer and there could be plenty more to come now that Rob Hornby takes over. Since visored, his record stands at 11213 (3-5), with the runner-up effort to Otto Oyl, who followed up off a 5lb higher mark yesterday.
He won a course and distance handicap by seven and half lengths last month and will relish the cut in the ground.

Stall 10 made life tough for SOMEWHERE SECRET at Hamilton last Thursday, but the veteran ran a cracking race to finish third, despite racing closer to the stands’ rail than ideal (contrary to popular belief, the rail is rarely the place to be in sprint handicaps at Hamilton).
The ground would have been a shade quicker than preferred and it’s worth noting that his two 6f runs on soft ground for his current handler, Rebecca Menzies, have produced a 15-2 Redcar win and an 18-1 second at Ayr. There should be sufficient juice in the ground to justify an each-way interest.

CHIPS AND RICE was an eyecatcher on her seasonal reappearance over 1m here on April 23rd, making progress under tender handling into sixth place on the ‘dead’ rail in the fillies’ novice contest won by Nashwa (subsequently third in the Oaks).
She seemed to handle soft conditions well enough when beaten by less than three lengths at Newmarket last backend and the switch to handicap and step up to 1m2f should bring about improvement.
