The Paul Nicholls-trained SILVER FOREVER has a fine record when fresh, recording form figures of 11111 (5-5) when rested for at least five weeks if we include her point-to-point run. Her record when returned to the track within five weeks stands at 3213 (1-4), with the defeats at odds of 11-8f, 11-8f and 9-4.
The win came here at Newbury when scraping home by a short head on her second start during the 2019/2020 campaign, 26 days after her comeback win. She missed the whole of last season but can brush off the long absence on her Rules chase debut.

CAESAR ROCK – (2.55 Thurles, 1pt win – 7/2)
CEASAR ROCK was only third when the 11-4 favourite at Wexford last time but he made the running in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail and I though he did well to finish within four lengths of the winner who raced very wide throughout. The return to a longer trip won’t inconvenience him and he’s worth a small bet.

VALLERES – (Newbury 3.05, 1pt win – 4/1)
Backing seasonal debutants aged seven or younger would have found four of the five previous winners of this 2m4f handicap chase and returned a profit of £21.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. This system missed the winner last year but the sole qualifier finished second at 33-1. It also threw up the 78-1 straight forecast in 2018.
This year’s qualifiers are VALLERES, Dublin Four, Oscar Robertson and Smarty Wild. The last-named has yet to win on a left-handed track, Oscar Roberston might need this reappearance outing (both his wins have come second time out) and both of Dublin Four’s wins have come in the spring.
Point winner VALLERES is two from two when racing left-handed under Rules, including a comfortable reappearance win at Wetherby last October, and he looks the obvious one.
