FIREWATER is two from two at Ayr over 1m-1m2f, with both wins in October, including this race last year. He’s clearly suited by going left-handed in the mud and clocked a very fast time when runner-up in heavy ground at Haydock in the spring.
He runs off a 3lb lower mark today (the same mark as for last year’s win) and he’s likely to be prominent in a race lacking obvious pace angles.

VINO SANTO – 8.00 Chelmsford
VINO SANTO was left with plenty to do when fifth at Lingfield last time and wasn’t helped by challenging on the inside rail when it paid to race wide. Runner-up He’s Our Star, who also took the inside route, gave that form a boost when chasing home John Clare at Leicester next time and it’s interesting to see in-form David Probert booked for a horse who is usually ridden by a 7lb claimer.
He’s well drawn in stall 2 tonight and if he can reproduce the kind of speed figure he clocked when place at Lingfield three runs back then he’ll be difficult to keep out of the frame.
