It looked like the pace horses would dominate in the 7f nursery at Lingfield’s Racing League meeting on August 11th, as they had done in the earlier contests, but IMMORTAL BEAUTY defied clouds of kickback to come through strongly from the rear and win going away.
Richard Hannon’s daughter of Cotai Glory now has form figures since stepped up beyond 5f of 211 (2-3), with the defeat by a head at 14-1. She deserves this crack at Group 3 company and her stable has won this three times in the past four years that they’ve been represented.
3:55 Salisbury – Al Simmo (1pt win – 15/2 888Sport, 7/1 generally)
Size matters where Al SIMMO is concerned and Steph Hollinshead’s pacesetter has a fantastic record in small fields, recording form figures of 111217111 (7-9) in fields of nine or fewer runners.
She was sent off at just 8-1 for the Great St Wilfrid Handicap on her latest start on the back of two small-field wins at Newmarket but, in a race packed full of other pace angles she was always going to struggle to dominate from her middle draw and came home well beaten in 12th of the 14 runners.
That defeat is easily forgiven, and she might be able to dominate here, despite being drawn widest of all.
