MINNAMOOLKA is progressing at a rate of knots and could surprise in this Group 3 contest. Mick Channon’s filly ran a very promising race on her debut at Leicester, finishing a close-up 33-1 fourth from the worst of the draw.
She got off the mark at Bath next time when the only winner on the card to come from off the pace and followed up over today’s course and distance, despite racing in the slower ground towards the inside rail. She has a nice middle draw today and those two against-the-bias wins suggest she could be vastly underrated.

Trainer James Moffatt has a good record when brining one back after a very recent outing (four days or sooner), scoring with nine of the 27 qualifiers since the start of 2011 for a profit of £63.53 to a £1 level stake at SP.. He was the yard’s third string when returned to Cartmel three days ago but the 14-1 shot very nearly won, going down by just over one length in third. He again raced on the inside that day whereas winning stablemate Native Fighter was wide throughout under Charlotte Jones. Aptly Put’s latest win came after a break of four days under Jones and the pair can click again in this 3m3f handicap hurdle.

STRIKE RED seems far happiest on tracks with stiff uphill finishes, recording form figures of 413211 (3-6). The first defeat came over an inadequate 5f trip on his racecourse debut when beaten by just over one length into fourth, he did best of the hold-up horses when an 11-1 third of five at Pontefract behind Mitsrosonfire (now rated 13lb higher) and went down by half a length when second at Leicester.
On easy tracks his record reads last of five, last of seven, sixth of 14 and sixth of ten. He flew at the finish when beaten by less than two lengths at Lingfield last time and this course and distance winner has plenty in his favour tonight.
