4.05 Leicester – NO TACKLE (1.5pt win – 5/2 Sky Bet, 888Sport)
NO TACKLE is a son of Gentlewave, a sire whose chase runners are 27 from 128 for a profit of £33.30 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 17.25, A/E = 1.56). Robbie Llewellyn’s seven-year-old, a heavy ground winner over hurdles when with Sam Drinkwater, pulled up at Taunton on his stable debut in late November but the gelding reportedly was suffering from an irregular heartbeat. He returned from an eight-week break to record a 12-1 success on soft ground over today’s course and distance last month and can follow up.
8.00 Southwell – BRISTOL HILL (1pt win – 11/4 Sky Bet, BetVictor)
BRISTOL HILL hit form at about this time last year, recording form figures of 2121 (2-4) from late February until mid-April. Kevin Frost’s six-year-old finished unplaced in his first six runs this winter but showed more in a 1m4f handicap at Newcastle last time where he ran third after challenging on what looked the slowest part of the track. Progeny of his sire, New Bay, tend to hold their form well and the handicappers who line up on the back of a top-three finish have a great record, landing 87 of their 308 starts (28.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £124.85 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 60.76, A/E = 1.43). The return to Southwell won’t harm his chances and Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle.
