COOL STONE won’t have many fans after getting turned over at odds of 1-7 in a match at Fakenham last time, but Alan King’s mare raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail and made a complete hash of the last hurdle.
She came home nine lengths behind the winner but that defeat is easily forgiven and she’s best judged on her earlier runner-up effort at Wincanton. This sometimes-keen sort should get a decent gallop to chase today and looks over-priced at around the 9-1 mark.

SAGE ADVICE finished a 27-length last of five at Huntingdon in November but that Class 3 handicap hurdle worked out well, with the winner, Onemorefortheroad, following up in a Listed handicap hurdle at Newbury before his 14-1 second of 12 to Tritonic at Ascot.
Third-placed Ingleby Hollow also won next time and Sage Advice’s subsequent Kempton flop can be forgiven as he raced on the slowest part of the track towards the inside rail under a conditional jockey. Sam Twiston-Davies, on board for his latest success, returns to the saddle today and the drop to Class 4 level and first-time blinkers could also help. He’s 7lb lower than when sixth in last season’s Fred Winter and is worth a speculative interest.
