BENKOGAMBIT is a 17-race maiden but the four-year-old ran a fine race to finish fourth of 16 at Gowran Park on his debut for Martin Brassil earlier this month.
Prominent racers were strong favoured that day – as they usually are at Gowran – and he did clear best of the closers. He’s an each-way price tonight and could prove hard to kick out of the frame.

The pace held up in the 6f conditions stakes at Newcastle on all-weather Finals Day, with the winner, runner-up, fourth and fifth prominent throughout. SPYCATCHER was only just pipped in third despite not having the race run to suit and can be forgiven his Haydock defeat last time, as he was on the receiving end of a strong bias – he challenged towards the outer on a day rail runners enjoyed a big advanatge.
He’s won or gone close in all four all-weather starts and looks over-priced at around 8-1 (Paddy Power go 7-2 which is far more realistic).
