The gelding was a tracker horse back in October when seventh at Redcar after helping to set an unsustainably quick pace and did well to finish sixth at Musselburgh next time where a wide draw and patient tactics made life incredibly difficult.
He bounced back to win over tonight’s trip and track in early December when advised in this column and was only beaten by a head when bidding to follow up, also over course and distance. He went too quick again the inside rail when only fifth here on his latest start but has been freshened up since, Hollie Doyle takes over from Jo Mason and the track was strongly favouring early pace last night.
I’m hoping/expecting that Doyle will allow habitual frontrunner Spiritofthenorth to come across here and take up the running, sitting on the heels of that one, just off the rail, before pouncing in the straight.
