The first defeat came over an inadequate 2m4f trip and the other by just a neck on unsuitably fast ground. He’s three from three in December/January outside of his seasonal debuts and looks overpriced.

LOSSIEMOUTH – (3.05 Newbury, 3pts win – 100/30)
Stage Star has been impressive since switched to hurdles but those wins came in Class 3 and 4 contests and he did taste defeat in both Class 1 runs in bumpers. At the prices, he’s worth taking on with LOSSIEMOUTH, who is perhaps underrated as he’s trained by Tom Lacey rather than Paul Nicholls or Nicky Henderson.
The six-year-old slaughtered his rivals by 14 lengths in Grade 2 company at Sandown last time and is now three from three since wearing cheekpieces or blinkers. The recent rain is very much in his favour and he’s miles clear on last-time out speed figures according to Proform’s ratings.

GYPSY WHISPER – (Southwell 5.30, 1pt each-way – 13/2)
GYPSY WHISPER ran well against the bias over 7f here on her stable debut, making late ground up the inside, and again seemed to find that trip and track too sharp next time, placing again when we were on each-way. She had form over today’s mile trip in France and is worth another chance.

It’s was desperately difficult to win around the inside under prominent tactics at Wolverhampton’s meeting last Wednesday (December 22) and TIPPERARY TIGER did incredibly well to finish second of 12 after racing in the ‘swamp’ until the very closing stages, after which the damage had been done. He looks well berthed – assuming Clifford Lee, taking over from Sam James, doesn’t do anything silly like try to get across and lead from stall 11.
