I went with LORD GORGEOUS at Windsor last time, despite his wide draw in stall 8 of 8, but track position proved his undoing and he came home in sixth of the eight runners. The first three came from the three lowest draws (stalls 1, 3 and 2) and his eight-and-a-half-length defeat was worthy of a slight upgrade.
I’m going to put him up again at Bath tonight, as he’s again up against the desperately hard-to-win-with pacesetter Fair And Square, a four-length runner-up in that Windsor race.

This season, it’s often been a case of the closer to the stands’ side rail the better on the straight course (5f-1m) at Yarmouth and those drawn in stalls 1 and 2 are just two from 58 in handicaps. The rail bias was particularly strong at the meeting on May 26th when two of the three highest-drawn runners – Rocket Yogi (stall 8 of 10, once adjusted for non-runners) and Lelabad (stall 10) fought out the finish of the 7f opener, with the former prevailing by a nose.
ATOMISE (stall 1) was three lengths back in third but it was still a good effort to spoil a tricast for those drawn high. Charlie Fellowes’ filly has improved for the step up from sprint trips this term and looks very interesting on her first outing over 1m. Fellowes is a rare visitor to this venue and his runners over 1m+ have recorded form figures of 1133501136 (4-10) for a profit of £9.50. Those starting at 9-1 or shorter had figures of 1130116 (4-7).
