Top tipster Andrew Mount had a fine start to Royal Ascot, with Waiting All Night (5th, 150-1), Lusail (2nd, 28-1) and Mooneista (4th, 16-1 advised) all rewarding each-way support. He shares his day two bets below, alongside an exclusive a Bet £10 – Get £20 Sign-Up Bonus at LiveScore Bet.

KATEY KONTENT – ASCOT 2.30 (1pt each-way – 10-1 William Hill, five places, though Sky Bet’s 9-1 seven places is preferable)
MAYLANDANDSEA – ASCOT 2.30 (0.5pts each-way – 33-1 Paddy Power, six places, 33-1 Betfair, five places, 25-1 Sky Bet, seven places)
Progeny of Havana Grey have a 15 from 52 record (29% strike-rate) when racing at the minimum trip on turf and KATEY KONTENT clocked a very fast time according to Proform’s speed figures when scoring by more than four lengths at Windsor last time. She also won at Salisbury on her debut, suggesting today’s stiff track won’t be a problem, and her stable won this in 2017.
MAYLANDANDSEA is a qualifier on the same Havana Grey angle as Katey Kontent and she clocked a useful time when successful at Nottingham on her debut. Havana Grey juveniles are seven from 15 on turf at the second time of asking for a profit of £17.29 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those who won last time out have form figures of 1121 (3-4). I wasn’t intending to get too involved in this race but the extra places on offer are too tempting to resist.

Aratus – 1.5pts each-way – 5.00 Ascot (1.5pts each-way – 25-1 generally including bet365, seven places, 20-1 Sky Bet, eight places)
ARATUS found only Oo De Lally (now rated 105) three-quarters of a length too good when 33-1 for his juvenile debut at Newbury in the autumn of 2020 and went on to land his next four starts, all over the same 7f trip and often against the track bias on the day.
I had high hopes for him on his reappearance in Listed company at Leicester on April – his first start since gelding – and bet stakes accordingly but he raced alone on the stands’ side rail, rarely the place to be on the straight course at Leicester, and pulled hard before coming home a long last of three.
He took a big step forward in the Victoria Cup the following month, keeping on into an 18-1 ninth of 29 and doing third best of those to race in the centre group. He’s certainly bred to appreciate the step up to 1m – progeny of his sire Free Eagle have an 18.2% strike-rate over this trip, compared to just 11.6% over 7f, and there’s pace nearby courtesy of Percy’s Lad.

FAR SHOT – 5.35 Ascot (1pt each-way – 10-1 generally, some firms five places, 9-1 Sky Bet, six places)
CHATEAU – 5.35 Ascot (1pt each-way – 9-1 generally, five places, 17-2 Sky Bet, six places)
STAR OF LADY M – 5.35 Ascot (0.5pt each-way – 33-1 Coral, five places, 25-1 Sky Bet, six places)
FAR SHOT was successful in a 5f Yarmouth maiden seven days ago, the same race his sire Ardad debuted in before landing the Windsor Castle Stakes just six days later in 2016. Both John and Thady Gosden were reportedly in attendance for his debut and, though only scoring by three-quarters of a length at odds of 1-2, the ground was softer than ideal, and it was a cosier success than the winning margin implied. Frankie Dettori is booked and everything looks set for a big run.
CHATEAU is by Havana Grey’s sire Havana Gold, who also does well with his progeny over 5f on turf. Backing them all would have found 25 winners from 159 bets (15.7%) for a profit of £47.75. He met trouble in running when third at Salisbury on his debut and did so again when successful at Beverley next time. He clocked a good time for that win and makes each-way appeal.
STAR OF LADY M – another daughter of Havana Grey, failed to cope with the sharp bends when a beaten favourite at Chester on her penultimate start but is three from three on straight tracks and looks over-priced.
