TENTH CENTURY – (1.00 Chepstow, 1pt win – 14/1)
TENTH CENTURY was well backed at Chelmsford last time on hide but for Michael Blake – a trainer who has a good record with horses he takes over from other yards – but he could only finish fifth. However, Tenth Century’s sire Fountain Of Youth has a poor record with his all-weather runners, scoring with just seven of the 203 qualifiers (3.45% strike-rate) for a loss of £155.32 to a £1 level stake at SP.
I’m operating two betting systems when the sire’s progeny switch from the all-weather to turf and Tenth Century is a qualifier on one of them. HIs latest turf outing saw him beaten by seven and a half lengths into second place in a Thirsk seller but the winner was Mo Celita, who has added four more wins since that race including in Listed company. He looks well drawn in stall 6 of 7 and is worth chancing to small stakes.

BOLLY BULLET – 2.30 Chepstow, 2pts win -13/8)
Cold Stare has the best of the draw in stall 7 of 7 but I suspect he was flattered when scoring from off the pace in the mud at Haydock last time. The third and fourth also came from midfield or further back and both were unplaced next time.
More interesting is BOLLY BULLET (stall 4) who was denied a hat-trick by just half a length at Salisbury last Saturday night. He got racing a little too far out and wasn’t helped by taking the rail route where the ground was clearly slowest. That was a huge effort in the circumstances and he pulled five lengths clear of the third.

SECRET POTION – (3.30 Chepstow, 1pt win – 7/2)
Those drawn high enjoyed a massive advantage on the straight course at Chepstow last week, as they often have done this season. Siding with the four highest draws in handicaps over 5f-1m featuring at least eight runners has been a profitable exercise. SECRET POTION (stall 9 of 9) is well drawn and probably wasn’t on the quickest part of the track when scoring at Nottingham last time.
He goes well at this time of year, with form figures in August and the last week of July, below Listed level of 1143324351615311 (6-16).
