Top GG tipster Andrew Mount has three bets at Ayr and Cork on Wednesday. Check out his selections below, which are all backable via Betway’s sign up offer, which gives up to £10 in free bets.
WOOD RANGER (3.10 Cork, 1.5pts win 100/30)
The 6f Naas handicap won by Pale Iris on May 8th was dominated by hold-up horses who challenged near the stands’ side rail from favourable high draws. WOOD RANGER did well to finish third after racing freely in the lead from stall 3 and his three-and-a-half length defeat can be upgraded.
He was three lengths clear of the fourth and looks likely to improve for being tucked in just behind a strong gallop, which looks likely in this 5f handicap. The drop to this trip could be the making of him and he has the best of the draw in stall 9 of 9. Shelly Banks ran well against the bias here last time and could be the biggest threat, though she’s 0-8.

BLACK LOTUS (3.20 Ayr, 2pts win 7/2)
Chris Wall’s runners usually go well on their second start back from a break and BLACK LOTUS will improve for her comeback third at Nottingham last month where she did best of those ridden patiently. Her trainer’s four runners at Ayr in the past ten years include winners at 33-1 and 25-1 and she should get a good tow into the race from A La Voile and Kaleidoscope.
She won second time out in 2019 after also finishing third at Nottingham on her reappearance and she was runner-up at York on her second outing last term, never getting in a blow behind the all-the-way winner in a slowly-run contest.

MISS NAY NEVER (4.20 Ayr, 1pt win 15/2)
MISS NAY NEVER hasn’t always looked 100% straightforward but she got off the mark in a nursery at Wolverhampton when last seen, despite her breeding suggesting that Tapeta isn’t ideal. Her record over 5f now reads 5233221 (1-7), with the sole unplaced effort coming in Listed company on her second start.
She’s arguably unlucky not to have won more than once – she fared best of those drawn low when third at Haydock, was wayward when beaten by a neck in first-time cheekpieces at Catterick and bumped into the now 93-rated Victory Heights (winner of a Class 2 conditions contest on his next start) when runner-up in a Class 5 novice at Newcastle. Progeny of No Nay Never switching from Tapeta to another surface – regardless of where they finished last time out – won nine of their 53 starts for a profit of £54.83 to a £1 level stake at SP and she looked overpriced on her comeback.
