HARROGATE – (3.23 Nottingham, 1pt each-way, 9/1)
It was an advantage to be drawn low in the 5f Redcar handicap won by High Security on September 22, with the first three home drawn 2, 10 and 1 of 16. HARROGATE did well to finish fourth from stall 9 in that contest, doing second best of those to race centre to stands’ side and several other high-drawn runners have done well since – Glorious Rio, seventh from stall 11, won next time as did Buniann, 13th from stall 13. Country Charm, 14h from stall 16, improved his RPR (Racing Post Rating) by 11lb when fourth at Newcastle next time and, bizarrely, the 50-1 shot who trailed home last from stall 16 has been retired to stud!
Runner-up Albegone was well held when a big gamble at Musselburgh but blew the start and raced choke-out from his poor low draw. Harrogate himself went back to Redcar next time but was done no favours by the draw again (stall 13 of 14) and raced with just one other on the stands’ side, out-performing his draw to finish tenth.
There are other pace angles in the race, but he goes well on turf for Graham Lee – 1st (5-1), 3rd (10-1), 1st (5-1) and 4th of 16 (18-1), suggesting each-way claims again.

GUIDING – (5.30 Dundalk, 0.5pt each-way, 33/1)
GUIDING had no chance under patient tactics from a wide draw at Gowran Park on her penultimate start and, though beaten a long way, her 11th of 17 was still a good effort in the circumstances.
She beat only a couple home here at Dundalk on her next start but possibly needed that after more than seven weeks off and it’s interesting to note that she has won in the corresponding week in each of the past two seasons.
She scored over course and distance on October 28 last year and won over 1m here on November 1 the year before. The eyeshields worn for her latest win are back and, while not certain to encounter the required strong pace, she’s worth chancing at the available price.

BANDINELLI – (7.15 Kempton, 1pt win, 4/1)
BANDINELLI impressed at Haydock last time, making all at good pace on a day such tactics were difficult to pull off because of the headwind.
Charlie Appleby’s three-year-old is now unbeaten in two starts since gelded and fitted with cheekpieces, the other win coming over 1m4f at Newmarket. Both victories came on fast turf but Polytrack should hold no fears on breeding and he has won on Tapeta.
