Andrew Mount looks to head into the weekend on a high with three best bets on Friday, with two at Uttoxeter and one from Haydock.

3.32 Uttoxeter – LOOKAWAY (1pt win – 9/4 generally)
LOOKAWAY has form figures at Uttoxeter of 111 (3-3) and Neil King’a eight-year-old has a solid record when fresh, scoring here on his chase debut/reappearance at about this time last year before his third place to L’Eau Du Sud in a Grade 2 novices’ chase at Cheltenham’s November meeting. He also won in handicap hurdle company on his comeback in the 2023/24 season and in a Newbury bumper in the 2021/22 campaign. His current mark of 135 could be on the generous side and his forcing style will be an asset.
4.40 Uttoxeter – CUBAN COURT (1pt win – 4/1 Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 7/2 generally)
Front-running CUBAN COURT needs a small field with his cut off point being eight runners. When racing in fields of nine or more his record reads 0P4P28756733 (0-12) but in fields of eight or less it is a far more palatable 123111 (4-6) for a profit of £7.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. It’s possible that he’ll come on for this reappearance effort after six months off the track but he should enjoy the run of things at the head of affairs, and he faces just six rivals.
5.25 Haydock – OUR ABSENT FRIENDS (0.5pt e/w 9-1 Sky Bet, four places)
OUR ABSENT FRIENDS usually runs well at this time of year, recording form figures in handicaps in the September/October period of 1513158018 (4-10) for a profit of £52.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. He also has a poor record immediately following a win which was why I fielded against him at Newcastle last time (eight days after his Redcar win) where he could only finish a 4-1 eighth of 13. His handicap record in September/October on the back of a defeat reads 111801 (4-6) for a profit of £56.50. Stall 1 might not be ideal judged on the high-draw bias we’ve seen in some Haydock sprints this term but he ‘s draw near the early pace (Secret Mistral from stall 4) and there’s compensation in the early price.
