4.20 Haydock – AZURE BLUE/ELECTRIC STORM (1pt straight forecast (6.22/1 with bet365 at the time of writing) or Tote Exacta)
AZURE BLUE is going to difficult to beat in this 6f Listed race for fillies and mares after her encouraging comeback run from a poor high draw in the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes. She’ll appreciate the drop in grade and taking on her own sex again, as her record in filles/mares races stands at 211111 (5-6), with the defeat by just half a length. However, her chance his well-covered in her price of around 4-5 and the best way to tackle the race is with the forecast or Tote Exacta. The one I like for second is James Tate’s ELECTRIC STORM, who landed her first two starts at Kempton (7f & 6f) before a fine second to Adaay In Devon in a 5f Listed race at Bath on her turf debut. The daughter of Night Of Thunder is bred to appreciate today’s softer going. Bet365 offer early prices on forecasts and currently offer 6.22/1.
5.10 Goodwood – NIGHT ON EARTH (1pt win – 13/2 William Hill)
NIGHT ON EARTH is my idea of next month’s Epsom “Dash” winner but in the meantime the speedball looks worth a bet in this 5f handicap. The Ian Williams-trained six-year-old showed terrific early speed from the stalls when scoring at Epsom on his penultimate start and did really well to finish a close-up fifth from a poor wide draw at Chester next time. He looks the sole pace in the race and, hopefully, Saffie Osborne will stay down the middle from stall 1 rather than attempt to cross to the rail.
