5.28 Haydock – MY HARISSON GEORGE (1pt win – 5/1 bet365, 9/2 William Hill)
MY HARRISON GEORGE is a nine-race maiden but has placed in four of his last five starts and the first-time cheekpieces could make the difference in this amateur rider’ handicap. Since 2010, in-form Richard Fahey is 36 from 238 (15.1%) with turf runners in this headgear for a profit of £41.25 to a £1 level stake at SP and those who had the benefit of recent outing (within 28 days) were 32 from 183 (17.5%) for a profit of £69.50. Two of those winners carried the same colours as My Harrison George, third at Pontefract a fortnight ago, and the drying ground will suit.
8.10 Goodwood – CABINET OF CLOWNS (1pt win – 4/1 generally)
They went hard up front in the Newmarket handicap won by Great Blasket last month and the race was set up for the closers, with the winner, runner-up and fourth all coming from midfield or further back. CABINET OF CLOWNS was fresh/keen on his reappearance that day and caught the eye in fifth place, doing second best of the prominent racers. Eve Johnson Houghton’s five-year-old has run well on his second outing in each of his two previous campaigns, faring best of the closers when runner-up at Lingfield in 2022 and again when third at Newmarket last term and he looks well berthed in stall 2 to either make the running or settle just behind pace rival Island Bandit, who might need his first run for six months.

I’ve listened to plenty of punters and pundits discuss their favourite races to bet in and the most common answer that…
