Andrew Mount heads to Exeter and Newcastle for his best bets of the day on Friday 7th November, as he heads to Exeter and Newcastle…

3.35 Exeter – JUPITER ALLEN (1pt win – 7/2 generally)
JUPITER ALLEN has a fine record when fresh, recording form figures after a break of at least five weeks (or on his racecourse debut) of 21638011410 (4-11) with the latest defeat behind Haiti Couleurs at the Cheltenham festival. In fields of nine or fewer runners only, his record when fresh stands at 21631141 (4-8), with the sixth place coming in Grade 2 company. Chester Williams’ six-year-old has won over course and distance and faces just eight rivals on his seasonal reappearance after a 241- day layoff.
4.00 Newcastle – AFTER LOVE (1pt win – 9/4 bet365)
AFTER LOVE, winner of a 13-runner 6f fillies’ handicap at Southwell on her debut for George Boughey in late September, found the small field/steady early gallop against her when second of five (5-6 favourite) over the same course and distance next time and notched up another beaten-favourite effort at Wolverhampton ten days ago, going down by a length and a half in third of seven in a 6f Class 5 fillies’ handicap. Billy Loughnane tried to extricate her from the deep stuff on the inside rail, but the gap closed and she was forced to duck back up the fence to challenge. It’s a shame we don’t have a forecast headwind tonight to assist her patient running style but the step back up to 7f could help and she’s worth an interest.
4.30 Newcastle – SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE (1pt win – 3/1 bet365)
SPIRIT OF APPLAUSE has lost all 37 starts in Class 4 or better company but his record in Class 5 races stands at 15113211 (5-8) for a profit of £33.00 to a £1 level stale at SP, with the fifth place coming in novice company at Redcar when he had the worst of the draw in stall 12 of 12. Tim Easterby’s veteran appreciated the return to his grade when landing a gamble in a 14-runner 5f handicap at Southwell on September 21st and has had excuses since, finding Class 2 company too hot in the sprint series final over 6f at Nottingham before his Class 4 Southwell fourth when doing second best of the closers. He’s back down to Class 5 level today and looks well drawn in stall 10. Beverely/Carlisle expert OPAL STORM clearly enjoys stiff tracks, and the five-year-old mare ran well over 6f here on her recent all-weather debut, finishing a 40-1 fourth of ten over 6f. Her three turf wins came over 5f and the cut back in trip will help. She’s worth a saver.
