7.50 Windsor – CABINET OF CLOWNS (1pt ew – 17/2 William Hill, 8/1 generally)
CABINET OF CLOWNS was a winner at third time of asking in his debut season (2022) and took four runs before scoring in the 2023 campaign. Eve Johnson Houghton’s five-year-old ran as though the outing were needed when fifth of nine to Great Blasket (winner again since) on his reappearance at Newmarket in mid-May and it was a similar story at Kempton next time where he also paid for racing too close to the strong early pace. The blinkers, om for his latest success at Chepstow in August but missing so far this term, are back on today and his sole previous course outing saw him run second over this trip off a 4lb higher mark when doing easily best of those to race up with the pace. He’s drawn higher than ideal for a front-runner but doesn’t look to face a huge amount of competition n for the lead and can return to winning ways.
8.20 Windsor – FAST STEPS (1pt ew – 6/1 Sky Bet, Ladbrokes)
FAST STEPS lived up to his name when successful at Newbury 11 days ago, getting up close home under Oisin Murphy in a 1m2f handicap and recording a quick time (according to Proform’s ratings). He beat a host of three-year-old rivals that day and the form looks very solid for a Class 5 contest. He’s back up to Class 4 level today but was competitive in a Class 3 handicap over course and distance in late May, going down by just a length and a half in sixth and he has won here before. Murphy retains the ride and he won’t be inconvenienced if the ground eases.

Andrew Mount’s Myth Busters – Should We Expect Business As Usual When A Stable Is Taken Over By A Family Member?
Nowadays, we often see more than one name on a training licence – John & Thady Gosden for example – as a prelude to the younger member of the family taking over in their own right but will this change affect the way the yard operates, or will it be business as usual? My Proform…
