The Tim Easterby-trained GEORGIE WOOSTER shaped with promise when a 66-1 seventh of 13 in a 1m maiden at Newcastle on his debut last month and caught the eye under tender handling when a 100-1 eighth of 12 at Thirsk next time where the more cynical race-watchers suggested that James Sullivan was more intent on steering him up the backside of other horses than actually finding daylight. He was eyecatching again in a 7f Redcar novice on his third outing, going down by just over eight lengths in a 50-1 sixth of 12 and I’m surprised that the handicapper has given him a mark rather than make connections run him again in novice/maiden company. Diligent Resdev, the five-length third in that Redcar contest, won a handicap off 76 next time and the 13-length eighth, 100-1 shot, was a handicap debut winner off 56 at Bath shortly afterwards. Georgie Wooster’s opening mark of 61 could be lenient and he’s worth a bet despite having a modest draw in stall 8 of 11.
