3.18 Leicester – PERFECT LOCATION (1pt win – 5/1 Paddy Power, 9/2 generally)
PERFECT LOCATION was withdrawn on account of heavy going when I tipped her at Salisbury ten days ago but should be allowed to take her chance at Leicester this afternoon. Tom Ward’s filly finished a 20-1 11th if 20 in a valuable sales race at Newmarket, just a place behind Guernsey Lady (WON 11-8 from 6-1 next time when also tipped in this column), three places behind Arduis Invicta (WON 13-8 from 9-1 on next start when also advised here) and five places behind Anaisa, best of the low draws, who was backed from 40-1 into 12-1 when scoring in Listed company at Ripon on her next start. The daughter of Cable Bay, a winner at Southwell on her second start, could be well in off 69 on her nursery debut.
6.00 Wolverhampton – ARLECCHINO’S REX (1pt e/w – 11/2 Ladbrokes, Coral, 5/1 generally)
ARLECCHINO’S REX was only fourth at Southwell last time but the return to Wolverhampton will suit where his record without headgear reads 143 (1-3), with the victory – by just over three lengths – coming off today’s handicap mark of 52 in November of last year. The fourth place was excusable as it came from stall 1 under prominent tactics in a race dominate by hold-up horses drawn middle-to-high. Mark Usher’s three-year-old was an eyecatcher when third on his latest course visit, doing best of those ridden patiently. The fifth and eighth, both also ridden with restraint, have won since and his yard is in good form.
6.30 Wolverhampton – EMBARKED (0.5pt e/w – 18/1 Paddy Power, 16/1 generally)
EMBARKED came good at about this time of year, making all in a 7f handicap at Southwell on September 29th (three days after a defeat over 1m at the same venue) and he also landed a 7f handicap at Kempton on 27th September 2023. Scott Dixon’s seven-year-old broke his turf duck at the 27th attempt when scoring at Doncaster on his penultimate start and did too much too soon when only 12th over 1m at Southwell next time where the other three runners to dispute the early lead finished fifth, ninth and 13th. The last of those, Aspire To Glory, was a winner at Chelmsford next time out. Embarked will be suited by the cut back to 7f today and should face less pressure on that front end than at Southwell.

Andrew’s Angles – Vital Gelding Stats And Trainers To Watch
