3.15 Chepstow – ENDOWED (1pt win – 3/1 William Hill, 11/4 generally)
ENDOWED has a tricky draw in stall 1 of 10 for this 6f handicap but the runners in stalls 2, 3 and 4 are likely to be ridden patiently and I can see him floating across to track likely front-runner MIAKODA (stall 6) and getting a prominent early position. The John and Rhys Flint-trained veteran broke a long losing run when successful over course and distance last week and can usually be relied up on to run his race in high summer (June to August) after a recent outing (1-28 days). His record under these conditions reads 31158211961 (5-11) for a profit of £7.22 to a £1 level stake at SP, improving to 11811 (4-5) when starting as favourite. He clocked a good speed figure for his latest win and looks worth a small bet.
9.00 Windsor – CHASING GOLD (1pt win – 15/2 William Hill, 888sport)
Front-runner TOP BILLER was massively flattered by his Lingfield turf win in late May as he raced on the ‘golden highway’ from a very early stage. He could only finish seventh of ten when 100-30 for a Bath classified contest next time and I’m surprised to see him as short as 11-4 for this 5f handicap. I’d rather take a chance on Michael Keady’s CHASING GOLD, who makes his stable debut after leaving Robert Cowell. His new handler does well at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other handler and the booking of Rossa Ryan catches the eye. The three-year-old has been gelded since leaving Cowell and has also had a wind operation.
