5.00 Brighton – I’m MABLE (1pt ew – 6/1 generally)
Fourteen-race maiden Victors Dream often attracts market support despite looking less than resolute in a finish and Marco Botti’s strong traveller could only finish a modest third of six when 5-2 for a Class 6 handicap on Lingfield’s Polytrack last time. The four-year-old has shown little in three runs on turf and looks worth opposing in this classified contest, despite the money coming for him overnight. I’m MABLE is no star but has made the frame in all seven course outings and looks the safest each-way play against the jolly.
8.00 Wetherby – YAZAMAN (1.5pt win – 6/4 generally)
For a long time YAZAMAN was on my ‘swerve’ list, having scored just once from his first 41 starts, but Paul Midgley’s six-year-old has enjoyed a new lease of life since dropped back to 5f in blinkers, scoring by two lengths at Nottingham before arriving late to double up in apprentice handicap company at Beverley. His 5f record in blinkers now reads 1211 (3-4) and he escapes a penalty for his latest win. The pace scenario is a slight concern – there doesn’t look to be a great deal of early speed among his nine rivals, but he raced prominently when scoring at Nottingham and he’s going to be hard to beat.
