Andrew Mount looks to kick off the week with a few winners and our top tipster has three selections for the racing on the Monday 3rd November…

2.30 Kempton – CHANCELLOR (1pt win – 8/1 888sport, 15/2 bet365, William Hill)
Wind operations are rarely on the menu at the Gosden yard but their runners that receive them have a fine record on their first start after the surgery, landing ten of their 19 starts (52.63% strike-rate) for a profit of £17.63 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 5.27, A/E = 1.90). The geldings had form figures of 8111 (3-4) and I’m backing CHANCELLOR to make it four from five. The Kingman three-year-old makes his handicap debut after some stiff tasks on turf this season, finishing sixth to Jonquil in the Fred Darling at Newbury back in April before a disappointing seventh of ten in Listed company at Newmarket the following month. The layoff, wind surgery and switch to the all-weather for the first time could result in a much-improved effort and the price looks attractive given the above stats.
5.45 Southwell – MOOJ (1pt win 7/2 generally)
Jack Jones’ 22-1 newcomer MOOJ (“took keen hold in rear, headway on outer over 2f out”) fared best of the those to come from off the pace and best of those to challenge wide when third in a fillies’ novice contest at Leicester the last month and can take a step forward in this restricted maiden. The daughter of Calyx will have no problem with the switch to Southwell’s Tapeta surface on breeding and her trainer does well here. BAMI was well drawn when fourth to Figjam on her debut at Leicester last month, but she found trouble in running and the other newcomers to run well in that contest improved considerable next time. Runner-up Applesandpears went one better at Chelmsford last week, third home North West Gal was beaten by a nose at Catterick next time while fifth-placed Whizzy Dizzy went down by a neck at Lingfield. She looks the chief threat, and I’ll play her in a reversed forecast with the selection.
6.45 Southwell – STAR ZIA (1pt win – 5/1 Paddy Power, 9/2 generally)
James Tate has a useful record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with nine of the 46 runners for a profit of £44.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. The fillies/mares did particularly well, landing six of their 23 starts for a profit of £46.00. STAR ZIA, a three-year-old daughter of Havana Grey, looks very interesting in this 6f handicap on her first run since leaving Kevin Ryan’s care. Her new handler is quick to return to her to a Tapeta surface and her two runs on this surface for Ryan produce a 40-1 three-quarters of a length second over course and distance last January on her second career start before a 6f Wolverhampton win the following month. Her only all-weather handicap outing resulted in a half-length fourth when 10-1 at Kempton and she’s 2lb lower this evening. Stall 10 looks ideal on recent evidence, as it’s been very hard to win from low draws on the round course (6f+) at Southwell of late – in the past three weeks (five meetings) those drawn 1, 2, 3 or 4 were just one from 60 in handicaps over 6f-7f (-£45.00 to a £1 level stake at SP, expected winners = 5.00, A/E = 0.20).
