James Tate’s three-year-old will appreciate the step up to 1m today and is nicely drawn towards the inside in stall 3. The yard’s three-year-olds, owned by Saeed Manana, have a good record on their second career start, with 31 winners from 117 bets (26.5% strike-rate) for a profit of £21.61 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£68.39 at Betfair SP after 2% commission).

BIRKENHEAD has yet to win at Ripon here but form figures here of 322252 (0-6) suggest each-way claims, especially as he looks set to receive an easy lead. In-form Paul Midgley’s eight-year-old ran second over this 6f trip in May on his latest course visit and has had excuses in his two subsequent runs, finding the ground too soft when fifth at Catterick before getting not a battle for the early lead when fourth at Thirsk. He’s up against a host of hold-up horses today and a top-three finish looks realistic.
