6.04 Windsor – MONSIEUR PATAT (0.5pt e/w – 11/1 Sky Bet and Unibet, both paying four places)
This 6f handicap looks very playable as the market is dominated by hard-to-win-with types – Law Of Design (one from eight, albeit he ran well over 7f at Ascot the other day) and Eminency (one from 24). The first-named is trained by Brian Meehan who has had a torrid time with his turf runners this season, scoring with just two of his 44 runners in Britain/Ireland for a loss of £31.50 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 5.16, A/E = 0.39). With my original selection Harry’s Halo a non-runner I’m going to suggest a small each-way play on courser expert MONSIEUR PATAT, whose record here reads 16211 (3-5), with the wins at 9-1, 17-2 and 5-1. The concern is that Billy Loughnane, on board when successful over course and distance last time, rides Law Of Design today, but there’s compensation in the double-figure price.
