Andrew Mount looks to Saturday’s racing with four best bets across the cards, including two from Wincanton and one each from Aintree and Kelso.

12.55 Aintree – IMPOSE TOI (1pt win – 8/1 generally)
Runners who prepped in a chase are 0-31 in the past ten renewals of this Pertemps qualifier which counts against KYNTARA, KATATE DORI and CREBILLY. Last time out winners have also struggled, failing to register a win from 14 attempts, and process of elimination brings us to just IDEM and IMPOSE TOI. The first-named has refused to race in the past and the safest option is the Henderson runner, who finished second in the Coral Cup last season. The seven-year-old followed that Cheltenham run with in-the-frame efforts at the Aintree and Punchestown festivals and his good record on his seasonal debuts – form figures for his current yard of 211 (2-3) with the defeat by three-quarters of a length – suggests that it’s worth taking a chance on his stamina.
1.17 Kelso – GROZNI (1pt win – 11/1 bet365)
Sandy Thomson does well at the second time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with 18 of the 90 qualifiers since 2010 for a profit of £83.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. The chasers were seven from 25 (+£81.25) suggesting that GROZNI could be worth chancing in this 2m7.5f handicap. The nine-year-old, previously with James Owen, looked in need of is seasonal/stable debut when a 16-1 fifth of six over 3m2f here last month and is 2lb lower than when a non-staying 22-1 fourth in last season’s Scottish Grand National. He won second time out last term despite pulling up on his reappearance.
1.45 Wincanton – LORD OF NEYMORE (pt e/w 12-1 generally with the firms paying three places – bet365, Betfred, Ladbrokes and Coral)
Last time out winners are 0-24 in the past ten renewals of this mares’ handicap hurdle and those who prepped in a non-handicap were 0-28. Short-priced favourite JUBILEE ALPHA falls down on both counts, and I’d rather take a punt on outside LORD OF NEYMORE. Robbie Llewellyn’s seven-year-old finished a front-running third in a Class 3 mares’ handicap hurdle at Chepstow when we last saw her and she made all over a slightly shorter trip here last December. Her four runs in handicap hurdles have returned form figures of 1143 (2-4) and she’s worth playing each-way to small stakes with the firms paying three places.
3.30 Wincanton – THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE (1pt win – 7/2 generally)
THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE has the prominent running style that has been so effective in the Badger Beers (hold-up horses are 0-70 in the past ten renewals) and Paul Nicholls’ ten-year-old rarely runs a bad race on right-handed tracks. His record this way round stands at 111121032P (5-10), improving to 11113 (5-6) with the sole defeat when a 22-1 third of nine in a hot race at Ascot on last month’s reappearance.
