5.18 Doncaster – MARCHING MAC (1pt e/w = 8/1 Coral, Ladbrokes, five places, 15/2 Sky Bet, six places)
There’s 10-12mm of rain forecast for Doncaster from 4pm on Sunday and it could be genuinely heavy by the time they go to post for this 5f Class 4 handicap. MARCHING MAC handles these conditions well and drops in grade after his respectable 9-1 eighth of 16 to Woolhampton in Class 2 company at Ascot last time. The ground had dried out too much for Phil McEntee’s four-year-old that day – it was officially good to soft but rated ‘good’ by Proform – and he’ll be better suited by today’s conditions. He can usually be relied upon to run his race on turf during the autumn months (September to November), recording form figures of 1241111528 (5-10) for a profit of £37.70 to a £1 level stake at SP. He’s three from four when making the running on turf at this time of year and could prove hard to pass.
5.28 Bath – ALBUS ANNE (1pt e/w – 5/1 bet365, four places, 9/2 generally)
Mud-lover ALBUS ANNE has ground conditions in her favour and the form of her Sandown second to Tronido (who was allowed to dominated) has been boosted by the winner who followed up off a 6lb higher market Epsom. Like Marching Mac (above) she’s best on turf in the autumn months (September to November), recording form figures of 231241133 (3-9) for a profit of £5.50. At Bath only the score is 12113 (3-5) and she’s going to be desperately difficult to kick out of the frame.

Andrew Mount On…Ballydoyle Jockeys – Does Ryan Moore’s Injury Provide A Betting Opportunity?
Ryan Moore has been ruled out for the remainder of the Flat turf season with a broken leg, and I want to use this week’s article to discuss how his absence might affect Aidan O’Brien’s operation in the next few months, especially with the runners at British racecourses.
