LUMENBOURG caught the eye against the pace bias at Redcar last time, finishing a 100-1 seventh of 12 in a soft-ground 6f maiden. Sixth-placed Cash In, who fared second best of those to come from off the pace, only went down by half a length when 50-1 for a Ripon novice on his next start and Lumenbourg was only a short head behind that rival. The first-time cheekpieces go on for this handicap debut and there should be improvement to come.
5.00 Salisbury – CROESO CYMRAEG (1pt win – 8/1 generally)
The James Evans-trained CROESO CYMRAEG finished a creditable 25-1 fifth of 11 (beaten by five lengths) on his reappearance at Windsor in April and ran an almost identical race at the same venue the following month. The ten-year-old can usually be relied up on to run his race on right-handed tracks, especially at this time of year. He’s won seven of his 32 starts when racing in this direction for a profit of £17.75 to a £1 level stake at SP, including form figures in June/July of 112151414 (5-8) for a profit of £28.75. His record at Salisbury reads 112 (2-3), with the defeat by half a length.
