The Paul Nicholls-trained SABRINA found 3m on soft ground stretching her stamina when an 11-1 eighth of nine here last time and will be happier back in trip on quicker going. She won on this day 12 months ago at Ayr and also scored in the spring of 2022. It’s interesting to see the first-time cheekpieces go on, as this has a been a profitable angle for her trainer, especially with horses who finished fourth or worse on their latest start, Nicholls has scored with 36 of the 149 qualifiers since 2010 (24.6% strike-rate) for a profit of £58.01 to a £1 level stake at SP. So far in 2024, four of the 11 qualifiers have won (+£20.03) including an 11-1 shot at Exeter on Friday night.
2.15 Stratford – FINEST VIEW (1pt win – 11/2 BetVictor, 5/1 generally)
FINEST VIEW won four times in the spring of 2022 for Alan King before joining Andrew Martin, who failed to coax another win out of her from seven attempts. The seven-year-old was returned to Alan King’s yard and made a pleasing return in Class 3 company at Newbury last month after a break of 231 days, finishing a 14-1 sixth of 14 in a Class 3 handicap hurdle. The drop in class and return to mares’ only company will help – she has three wins and two seconds to her name from six starts in Class 4 races – and she looks set to encounter a honest gallop despite the small field.
