Safer Gambling Week 2025
This year Safer Gambling Week runs from Monday 17th to Sunday 23rd November, with the intention to educate bettors around the importance of responsible gambling. Here at GG we fully support the initiative and have pulled some information together about how people can evaluate whether they are betting safely and the tools offered by bookmakers…
Wed 12 Nov 20252.36 Exeter – ZESTFUL HOPE (0.5pt win – 9/1 generally)
The brief Diomed comment in the Racing Post Spotlight describes ZESTFUL HOPE as “too inconsistent to rely on” which seems fair enough at first glance five form figures on his last five starts of 10615 (2-5). However, a little more digging reveals a strong preference for right-handed tracks, on which Charlie Longsdon’s eight-year-old has form figures of F11183552443211 (5-15) for a profit of £9.63 to a £1 level stake at SP. He’s beaten 67.6% of his rivals when racing in this direction but is 0-19 left-handed, beating only 52.32% of his rivals. Most of those wins came on officially good ground but his record right-handed on ground rated soft by Proform reads 11221 (3-5) and today’s ground, officially good to soft, should be fine and he’s worth just a small win bet.
3.11 Exeter – TASHAN (1pt win – 11/4 William Hill, 5/2 generally)
TASHAN, beaten by a head in a Hereford bumper for John Butler, was two from two over hurdles for Emma Lavelle last season and shaped well on his return from a 302-day break when fourth of 14 to Masked Man at Chepstow last month. The four-year-old son of Golden Horn was beaten by just over 16 lengths but that race has worked out well, with the 12-length winner finding only one too good in Grade 2 company at Haydock yesterday, the runner-up Blue Carpet scoring at Wetherby, the third – Doctors Hill – winning at Chepstow on Friday and the sixth – High Tea – landing a Chepstow handicap hurdle by four lengths, also on Friday, off a mark of 105. Tashan had 14 lengths to spare over High Tea and his opening mark of 112 could be on the lenient side. His trainer has a fine record with handicap hurdle debutants, especially those aged between four and seven. This century, her record on this angle stands at 47 winners from 255 bets (18.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £72.88 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£146.48 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). This year, the score so far is five from 14 for a profit of £31.75 (+£60.65 at BSP). Six of the last 18 horses to leave Ellmarie Holden have won at the first time of asking for their new trainers and HUDSON, now with Mickey Bowen, could be the one for the forecast.
