4.25 Fontwell – TOAD OF TOAD HALL (1pt win – 6/1 William Hill)
Fontwell expert TOAD OF TOAD HALL arrives here on the back of a pair of pulled ups but there are sound reasons for expecting a much-improved effort this afternoon. One of those non-completions came at today’s venue where he usually runs so well – form figures of 21611P (3-6) – but the first-time cheekpieces were probably to blame that day. He also pulled up when fitted with first-time blinkers at Taunton in April 2022, a run that that was immediately followed by a narrow second at Fontwell. It’s safe to ignore his pulled up at Warwick last time, a track that simply didn’t suit, and Fontwell figures of 2111 (3-4) on good to soft or faster going, without headgear (with the defeat by a neck) suggest that he could easily bounce back in a race that he won by 47 lengths at odds of 5-1 last year.
