SARAH’S VERSE was backed from 9-2 into 11-8 favouritism when scoring over course and distance earlier this month, taking her record in April/May to 13411815213561 (6-14) for a profit of £23.35 to a £1 level stake at SP. Hollie Doyle, on board for the first time on the veteran’s latest start, keeps the ride and the step back up from Class 6 to Class 5 level won’t be an issue.
5.05 Bath – BREGUET BOY (1pt win – 10/1 bet365)
BREGUET BOY did well to finish sixth in an amateur riders’ handicap at Southwell on his penultimate start as he went from the front under Brodie Hampson and helped set it up for the closers. The first three home, priced at 100-1, 12-1 and 9-2, came from off the pace, as did the fifth. The seven-year-old could only finish in mid-division at Chelmsford next time, again under Brodie Hampson, though has never shown much on Polytrack (0-12) and I’m also happy to ignore that effort. His latest turf run – at Windsor last October – produced a heavy-ground win and though today’s 1m trip is on the sharp side he looks worth a punt now ridden by an apprentice as opposed to an amateur jockey. Any rain will help.
