3.12 Carlisle – VAL DANCER (1.5pt win – 100/30 bet365)
VAL DANCER has a modest record in the spring (March to May), recording form figures of 24633 (0-5) but is a different proposition in winter, with form figures in the November to February period of 51543111113 (6-11) for a profit of £20.35 to a £1 level stake at SP. In chases only, his record is 3111113 (5-7) for a profit of £17.85. Mel Rowley’s progressive eight-year-old is capable of running well when fresh, landing this race 12 months ago on his comeback.
3.20 Cork – FORTUNEDEFORTUNATA (1pt win – 13/2 William Hill, 6/1 generally)
Gordon Elliott’s FORTUNEDEFORTUNATA, sent off as the 10-1 third favourite for the Midlands National at Uttoxeter on his penultimate start, has a poor record on left-handed tracks and it was no surprise to see him trail home more than 32 lengths behind the winner in fifth. The eight-year-old has won just once from 15 starts in that direction but has form figures on right-handed tracks of 1193621B (3-8) for a profit of £39.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. He was brought down early at the Punchestown festival when we last saw him but has been freshened up since and has won on his seasonal debut previously.
