2.17 Haydock – THE CRAFTY MOLE (1pt win – 5/2 bet365)
THE CRAFTY MOLE beat only one home at Thirsk on last month’s reappearance but that run would have been needed, he was racing over an inadequate 1m4f trip and the visor, on for his latest success was missing. David O’Meara’s four-year-old won second time out last term and has a solid record over trips of 1m6f or further, recording form figures of 11115137 (5-8), with the last two defeats excusable on account of soft/heavy going at the tail end of a busy season. He’s 1lb below his last winning mark and his yard is in good form.

3.25 Yarmouth – ACCEPTANCE (1.5pt win – 15/2 bet365)
The Ed Walker-trained ACCEPTANCE shaped well on her debut at Southwell on April 30th, showing good early speed before weakening into fifth. That run would have been needed and she can take a step forward now switched to fast turf, a surface that will suit on breeding. It will be helpful if she goes from the front again given the forecast tail wind and Ed Walker has a great record with his second time out juveniles, scoring with 49 of the 275 qualifiers (expected winners = 36.32). Those who were beaten but ran within ten lengths of the winner (as Acceptance did) were 41 from 171 for a profit of £49.85 to a £1 level stake at SP.
4.25 Yarmouth – GIANT (1pt e/w – 11/2 bet365)
As a general rule, Yarmouth’s straight course favours early pace and should certainly be the case today thanks to the forecast tailwind. The likeliest front-runner in this 7f handicap looks to be GIANT, trained by in-form Richad Spencer and nicely drawn in stall 8 of 8. The five-year-old son of Rajasinghe made the running when going down by just half a length in fourth of 13 over this trip at Kempton last time and though 0-3 on turf his best run came over today’s course and distance when a close-up fifth. Blinkers go on for the first time today and that’s been a positive angle with colts, geldings or mares from this yard (they are 0-20 with first-time blinkered fillies) thanks to nine winners from 40 runners for a profit of £41.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. Spencer’s record with first-time blinkered five-year-olds is 3-4 (+£22.00).

Andrew’s Angles – A Look at British vs Irish Trainers on the Flat
During the jumps season we’re used to British trainers being on the receiving end of a good kicking from Willie Mullins and other Irish trainers. It must have been heartbreaking for Dan Skelton to try all season to land his first trainers championship only for Mullins to win easily despite not seemingly bothered until the…
